11/02/2004: "Election Day"

Woke up early so the three of us could walk over and cast our ballots. Longest lines I've ever seen in West Philadelphia, certainly a good sign, although there was not the kind of African American presence that we'll need to carry Pennsylvania. But...I'm not that worried about Pennsylvania.

I'm calling landslide on the election, Kerry carrying the popular vote in the 52-53% range and winning the electoral college handily- I'm saying 299-239 with both Ohio and Florida coming to Kerry. I suppose that's not really a landslide, but after how close the 'punditocracy' has called the election, I think we'll know by bedtime.

It meant a great deal to me that my son could stand in the voting both and press the green VOTE button submitting my full democractic ticket. Let's hope that Kerry and Edwards can finally start acting like Democrats once the election has concluded.
