12/06/2004: "Nice column at the Post"
Thoughtful column at the Post today by an English teacher.
He talks of the potential damage of video games, but without the hyberbole, without the hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth.
What of the number of hours WASTED on Halo 2 or GTA? Is it that widespread?
With all the arrogance of a new parent, I guess I just wonder how a high school student, let alone a younger child, has the freedom to spend their hours this way...isn't anyone watching them? Doesn't anyone want to spend time with their kids?

They're debating this article over at Calpundit, taking a very different read than I did- I thought the author did a good job of NOT falling into the video games are the end of the world and the cause of all that is wrong with civilization. I thought he did a good job of outlining all the ways that video games influence the social world of high school boys without sounding like a prude.
