05/24/2005: "International Education vs. Penn neighborhood"

Hmmm.

From the International Education website:

The model schools will provide a rigorous, engaging education for low-income and minority students in order to prepare them for college, the changing workforce, and a lifetime of learning.

I'm not quite sure: does Penn Alexander qualify as such a school? Will it count as such in a few years when most of the "low-income" students have been priced out of the neighborhood?

It' an interesting choice of partnership and it also makes me wonder if this school can be special admission.
