{"id":2205,"date":"2016-11-29T14:29:03","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T18:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrclapper.com\/blog2\/?p=2205"},"modified":"2016-11-29T16:13:30","modified_gmt":"2016-11-29T20:13:30","slug":"how-can-the-culture-solve-a-problem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mrclapper.com\/blog2\/?p=2205","title":{"rendered":"How can the culture solve a problem?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yeah, I probably should have asked that question first, before diving into two areas I need help with: <\/p>\n<li>how do we generate more time for people to read?<\/li>\n<li>how do we eliminate plagiarism from our writing?  <\/li>\n<p>Here are the unedited student answers: <\/p>\n<li>EVERYONE: spend less time on small talk<\/li>\n<li>VG: return to workspace norms so people can focus <\/li>\n<li>SH:  we should all take the incentive to read more in book group and on our own<\/li>\n<li>some may people may talk the talk but don&#8217;t really wanna do the extra work (in other words, walk the walk)<\/li>\n<li> DW: When we have to read on laptops, stay focused, don&#8217;t play games, or listen to music.&#8221; <\/li>\n<li>LM: Spend less time talking in  circle <\/li>\n<li>KM: not enough time to read for research so we have to help each other out. <\/li>\n<li> TC: Reaarrange time and scheduling <\/li>\n<li> IJ: Make sure they have a clear idea of what the sources are about so you&#8217;ll know whether they should read it or not. <\/li>\n<li> MH: Have a higher level of accountability but not in the sense of public shaming. If everybody is truly engaged in their topic and their work then ideally this problem will vanish.<\/li>\n<li> BC: Know that sometimes you have to do extra research.<\/li>\n<p>There&#8217;s lots here to return to tomorrow.   I also worry about the schedule &#8212; how do we help students use as much of time as wisely as they can &#8212; and how do we not punish the students who are on-time with discussions that may or may not apply to them.
