{"id":2624,"date":"2017-06-05T20:28:52","date_gmt":"2017-06-06T00:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrclapper.com\/blog2\/?p=2624"},"modified":"2017-06-06T11:32:19","modified_gmt":"2017-06-06T15:32:19","slug":"technology-always-lets-you-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mrclapper.com\/blog2\/?p=2624","title":{"rendered":"Technology always lets you down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some truisms about any school project that involves technology other than paper and pencil:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0It will take a week to ten days longer then you think it will.<\/li>\n<li>No software is intuitive.<\/li>\n<li>If the last time you used the software was more than a month ago, you are starting from scratch.<\/li>\n<li>Any hardware, from a camera to a computer, will need an update the moment you start working on it.<\/li>\n<li>Tool location and condition precisely mirror the culture of the school at that moment, which means that some days you&#8217;ll find a well-organized shop with everything at your fingertips and some days you won&#8217;t be able to find a thing and what you do find is missing a critical part. \u00a0 \u00a0Or broken.<\/li>\n<li>The folks most likely to help you with technology were available weeks ago and had much more free time then. \u00a0 \u00a0The time crunch you&#8217;re feeling everybody is feeling. \u00a0 No\u00a0expert wants to help someone whose project is due tomorrow and who\u00a0has done none of the necessary legwork.<\/li>\n<li>There is no source of power for any computer or device that cannot fail to function. \u00a0At the very least, it will be inconvenient, i.e., you&#8217;ve found the right power cable (shocking) but you need it in a space that requires an extension cord.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some truisms about any school project that involves technology other than paper and pencil: \u00a0It will take a week to ten days longer then you think it will.
