You must trust your students.<br \/>\n3.\tYour intentions must be clear.  <\/p>\n<p>Five Statements<br \/>\n1.\t Be fair and consistent\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need to treat all students the same way.<br \/>\n2.\tDon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t make threats\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but follow through if you do.<br \/>\n3.\tDiscipline isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t personal\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but you are a human being.<br \/>\n4.\tThe culture of the school may trump your efforts\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t give up.<br \/>\n5.\tYour whole class needs to reinforce the academic and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153civic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d culture of your room\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but you can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t force them to do so.   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three starting points: 1.
