Nice to have a project on compost going and have the NYT publish a magazine feature on urban compost.
There was an article in the print version yesterday about a student project to cap deep sea wells that I’m not finding right now.
Good to know I can get here, fill four buckets, and make it to school before 8:30.
We needed to touch, feel, smell, and taste compost.
Got back from vacation and the garden had cooked the lettuce into giant flowers. May be too hot, but I’m going to try and start summer plants with the hopes I can harvest in October.

SFL: The SFL has been a great success although I’m worried its life in the neighborhood is winding down. When we went to bed, there were 8+ books, including a battered but readable copy of Angle of Repose. When we woke up, there was this:

Greensgrow West opened yesterday and I brought the wagon over to load up. (Kara was playing in the suburbs and Colin wasn’t home yet…thankfully middle aged men with red wagons don’t merit a second glance in West Philly).

One of the many great things about Philadelphia is the Fairmount recycling center. KC and I went there yesterday — she filled the six buckets with compost on her own — after stopping at the only good bagel place in Philadelphia.
