Another story about Olney and its troubles.
Like my old school, West Philly High, Olney seems to get a new team of administrators every nine monthes or so.
Like my old school, Olney is a huge, unmanagable building that despite the best efforts of an utterly overwhelmed building crew, is falling apart.
Paul Vallas claims that principals can turn around a building alone. Sir, show me a comprehensive high school that has been turned around since 1990...
(The only example I can come up with was Torch Lytle at University City High School and that situation deserves two footnotes: 1-being Torch Lytle, he was able to command resources that others could not and 2- as soon as he left, the building pretty much reverted to its previous condition.)
