There's an intense article in today's Times about a strike by home health care workers.
These workers, mostly women, earn about $7 an hour for the worst kind of work out there. Having worked in a state hospital, a private mh clinic, and a halfway house, let me tell you: cleaning up other people's shit- it sucks. Wiping other people's butts- it sucks. Getting paid $4.80 an hour after taxes to do this work...
I'd like to see some statements from these "Home Health Care" agencies and what kinds of profit they are turning.
