12/14/2004: "No gifts"
Talk about micromanagement...
no gifts above $5 for teachers in NYC.
Don't get me wrong- in five years in Philly, I got a handful of Christmas cards each year. That's high school.
But friends who work in other districts tell a different story, one where they actually feel appreciated, where they receive a number of gift certificates and/or quality objects. If my son had a great elementary school teacher, I would be happy to give that teacher as much I could afford. What could be more important?
This move is a great big middle finger to teachers in NYC.
